Velocity Broadband, owned and operated by the City of Hudson since 2015, has connected its 200th high-speed internet customer. Amaize Gourmet Popcorn Shoppe, formerly Crazy but True Popcorn, is now owned by Laura and Jeremiah Hruby and James Marshall.

“We’re dedicated to keeping the same great-tasting popcorn Hudson has loved for the past 10 years,” said James Marshall. For the company to expand more into the online market, it required lightning fast, reliable internet service to help make the business successful.

Hudson’s Velocity Broadband offers a reliable, all-fiber high-speed internet network with speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. “Amaize needed quick installation of a reliable high-speed service that would run its in-store and online application needs,” said Will Ersing, Hudson’s Chief Broadband Officer. “Helping businesses thrive in Hudson is why we created Velocity. It provides the speed and reliability that businesses need to be successful in today’s data-driven business climate.”

“The first major stress and hindrance for Laura to do her job was the lack of quality internet service,” said Marshall. “With our previous internet provider, switching the account from the previous owner to us did not go smoothly, and we could not connect with our new laptop, making ordering and other day-to-day functions difficult. We’re excited to get Velocity Broadband from the City, because we know they care about our business and will be around to help us if we experience any problems. And we’re excited for less problems!”

According to Hudson’s Chief Economic Officer Jim Stifler, income tax revenue is up 14% year-to-date in Hudson, and a large part of that increase is from businesses who have chosen Hudson because of the availability of Velocity Broadband.
